Hello there.

It's been a while since I emailed, and I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten about you. I haven't. But I know I'd rather get an occasional update packed with fascinating links than a fortnightly message of banality and despair. And because I can't see you I'm going to assume you'd rather that too.

So here's the big news...

A new album: Troubadork

I've put together a new collection of songs for you. Some are quite recent, some not. All are awesome. It's called Troubadork, which is the imaginary genre of my music. Nick Gill came up with the name. Genius.

It's free and easy to download, or you can just listen to it online (which is even easier!). I've written some liner notes for each song too (click on the song titles).

Videosyncratic

For those of you who aren't Oxford natives, Videosyncratic was our local indie video shop (one in Summertown and one on Cowley Road). Like most local independent shops, it's been struggling to stay afloat. Last Monday, Jon Spiro (the owner) shut it down.

It's a great shame to see it go. There's not much left now. Polar Bear records is gone, Avid closed, even Borders is empty. Jon organised a last minute sale and invited some bands to play in the shop on Monday night. It was an epic event, with over a thousand people through the doors and a 90-minute queue to buy the last of the stock.

I wrote a Videosyncratic song for the gig, and took some video footage. During the week I recorded the song and edited together a music video, which you can watch now!

If you like the song, it's free to download from my site:

That's it. If you're interested in the smaller day-to-day details of the Troubadork lifestyle, you can always stalk me online:

I hope you enjoy the album. I'm writing like crazy at the moment, but I'm planning some gigs in a few months' time. I'll keep you posted. ;)

Talk soon,

Ben
